Description:
1945 hardback first edition, San Francisco-The Colt Press, one of 500 copies. 48 pages plus a foldout map. Printed in red, blue & black with title-page illustration, in back includes a large folding map of Oceani Occidentalis sen Terre Nove Tabula (A map showing all that was known of the new World from the Strassburg Ptolemy of 1525). Cloth-backed decorated blue wave patterned boards, paper spine label printed in red, on cream-colored canvas. There is very little fraying oncover boards and corners; one faint pencil smudge on the front board, but you can barely see it; no scratches or dents; a VERY GOOD copy in excellent shape. No. 4 of the "California Classics" series produced by The Colt Press. Weight: 9 oz.
This is a translation by Hale of the Spanish romance of the Sergas of Esplandian by Garcia Ordonez de Montalvo, from the 5th book of Amadis of Gaul.
