Folio; in tan linen boards, with titling and decoration in gilt and in red; [12], 13-120 pages with illustrations in color, including a gatefold at the rear of the book; with a slipcase which has a few marks; while one edge of the slipcase is cracked, it is all still holding well, with no real separation; the book is housed the publisher's red slipcase, with a pastedown label to the spine. Good binding.

Signed. 8vo; in the publisher's black cloth binding with labels, and with dustjacket; xvi, [2], 3-85; pages largely unopend.~~This copy inscribed by illustrator Clare Leighton to her then lover, Henry Noel Brailsford. Ms. Leighton provided the woodcut frontispiece and decorations for this book. Noel Brailsford is considered to be the most prolific British left-wing journalist of the first half of the 20th century, and was one of the founders of the Men's League for Women's Suffage [see wiki]. Mr. Brailslford and Clare Leighton lived together for nearly a decade starting in 1928; he was still married to his first wife, and she denied him a divorce. In 1939 Ms. Leighton left England to reside permanently in the United State; she never married.~~The presentation from Clare Leighton: "To Noel from Clare | --a hurried offering | December 1929.". Ron Thomason, 1979. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good binding. Ron Thomason's Lonesome is a Car Up on Blocks, with illustrations by Camilla Thomason. Twice awarded Teacher of the Year in his district, as a high school English and Mathematics teacher in Ohio, Thomason is best known as a bluegrass musician, with his band the Dry Branch Fire Squad. A book of 'Lonesome is...' statements, referencing aspects of country life in mountainous Appalachia, and illustrating the different aspects of 'lonesome', but not lonely, country life. Red staining to the rear cover, and light soiling to the wrappers. Stapled pamphlet, with printed blue paper wrappers. Very Good. [2], 34 pp. Uncommon, OCLC notes only two institutional copies. (Ted Lehmann No Depression "Ron Thomason: A National Treasure" ). Very Good binding.

Very Good binding/Very Good dust jacket. 8vo.; in publisher's red cloth binding, slightly cocked; with the uncommon dustjacket with illustration by Eric Ravilious; the dustjacket has not been price-clipped; is has a small chip and an internal closed tear to the spine; top corner of the front panel with residue of a long-gone sticker; the endpapers are toned but there are no ownership or other marks in the book; with 34 woodcut illustrations, decorations and vignettes by Ravilious, three of which are full page, including the frontispiece. ~~Desert recounts the struggles of Malchus, a wealthy Alexandrian who becomes a hermit, is a novel by the prolific writer and poet Martin Armstrong. Ravilious of course was one of the finest of the 20th century woodcut illustrators.~~. Very Good binding / Very Good dust jacket.

An interesting binding, quarter bound with marbled paper, over the same marbled paper boards, with tape where the quarter marbled paper joined the marbled boards; There is loss to the red tape. With pastedown to the rear board with the author's name, and pastedown to the front board with the title. There is a small split to the textblock, but everything is holding well. Good binding.

Two folio volumes (17 1/4" x 13 1/4); in the publisher's red cloth bindings, gorgeously stamped in black and gilt; [iv], [1], 2-422 pages, followed by Tables des Gravures (the final leaf of which has a crease); [iv], [1], 2-373 pages, followed by Tables des Gravures; each volume with 50 full page plates by Dore, all protected with tissue guards; the first tissue guard in Volume I has minor corner loss; the plates are almost all clean of foxing and superb.~~Volume I has some minor rippling to the bottom edge of the last quarter or so of the textblock, no affecting the text or the plates.~~Volume I has been rebacked in red japanese tisues with the original spine laid down, and Volume II has had small patches to the top and bottom of the front gutter.~~Altogether a magnificent set in two volumes.~~~. Very Good binding.
