Original blue cloth with gilt titles. Very nice clean copy with almost no bumping or edgewear. Internally spotless, with a foxing to the end papers only. xiv, 217 pp. 270 x 190 mm (10¾ x 7½ inches). This copy was owned by Mrs Van der Poorten Schwartz - the wife of Dutch author Maarten Maartens. Almost certainly given to her by William Robertson Nicoll, who wrote anecdotes of 19th Century Literary history with T.J. Wise, and edited 'The Expositor' for Hodder & Stoughton.

Lozuet was clearly a compassionate woman, who anonymously gave away all of the income she inherited in good works. Half black leather binding, with black marbled boards. Gilt title to spine. A little rubbing to the edge of the boards. Marbled end papers. Sepia photograph of Mademoiselle Lozuet and tissue guard, followed by the two essays. Joseph Jacquin was the editor-in-chief of the illustrated children's periodical Mon journal. This is one of the ten albums he and Thompson adapted from work by Graham Clifton Bingham between 1903 and 1922. Cloth spine and boards in very good, clean condition. A little bumping to the corners only, with some light marking to the white rear board. B/w and colour illustration, both full-page and in text - all very clean and fresh looking. Brie-Comte-Robert: Les Bibliolâtres de France, 1937. First edition. Original stiff card slipcase covered in buckram. Card boards. [vii]-xi, 40 pages, 1 leaf including VIII plates (including portrait, facsimiles) on 4 leaves. Unknown limitation, but states that this is a copy on papier d'Arches printed for M. AlbĂ©ric Cahuet. Boards and slipcase are a touch dusty, but overall in very good condition. Inside, the papers, in French Folds, are in immaculate condition. A very nice copy. AlbĂ©ric Cahuet was a pen name of Albert-Camille-Jean Cahuet (1877-1942). A French journalist and writer. His doctoral thesis was an attack on censorship. Schiedam: Herman Jansen, 1943. An original 1940's advertising poster for Scheidam Jenever. Featuring a large Pinneke Proost, riding a bottle of Jansen Jenever. In excellent condition, without significant flaws. Framed in a sympathetic red metal frame under glass. In 1943, the company commissioned Marten Toonder to create "Het recept van Pinneke Proost." Pinneke Proost was the house gnome (Kabouter) of Jansen Gin. In the cartoon strip Toonder created, he saved the day by unmasking a fake gin, and showing that Jansen's was superior. Impressed by this, the company commissioned Hans G. Kresse (one of Toonder's team of workers) to create the advertising for them. This poster was the result. 1783. Janvier's 1783 decorative map of the British Isles. Includes all of England, Scotland and Ireland as well as parts of adjacent France, Holland and Belgium. Divided according to provinces. An inset in the upper right details the Shetland and Orkney Islands. A decorative distance scale appears in the lower left quadrant. A similarly decorative title cartouche depicting the British royal armorial crest is set in the upper left quadrant. Drawn by J.
