A limited edition of authorised photographs taken by renowned stills-photographer David James during the filming of HIGHLANDER (1986). The edition was limited to 500 sets of which this is number 275. To our knowledge the set was not available commercially for sale and was intended for cast and crew members and publicity purposes etc. All 15 black and white prints are present, each one blind-stamped and numbered in pencil 275/500 by the photographer. Included in the set are some of the most iconic images from the movie. Each photograph is mounted, the cards measuring 16" x 12" approximately. Actual images, comprising both landscape and portrait measure 12" x 8" approx. Limitation certificate signed by David James the photographer is included with the set. A dazzling collection of new writing in support of the RNIB Talking Books Appeal featuring just about every British author active in 2001, each of whom donated their work free. In VG clean condition, evenly toned - the upper corner at lower wrapper is a wee bit turned. Nicely inscribed, signed and dated by Adrian Mole creator, Sue Townsend, at the title page.

Printed in the original Swedish language. pp. 156, pictorial boards without dustjacket as issued, illustrated throughout with vingnettes and half/full page illustrations by the author. Surface wear along the edges of the boards/corners and a few minor scrapes to the surface of the upper cover. A couple of minor marks to the lower cover (ink) The block is reasonably fresh and not browned but there are small, single stains to the margins of four of the pages (text/drawings not affected). Signed in blue ink by Tove Jansson directly to the top right corner of the half-title, uncommon thus.

First Thus, the Finnish language edition of Tove Jansson's final, original book which was published in English as "Notes from an Island" in 2021. Written with her life-partner, Tuulikki Pietilä (who provides the striking illustrations) the book describes episodes from the many years spent at their remote summer cottage off the coast of Southern Finland and is a touching finale from these two great artists. Blue cloth with silver titles at the backstrip, pp. 102, a Presentation copy inscribed and dated to its recipients by Tuulikki ("in friendship") in the year of publication and signed simply by both "Tove" and "Tuulikki". A very pleasing copy of this attractive book.

Published in English as Finn Family Moomintroll, this particular title remains the most enduringly popular and sought-after title in the series. Printed by Jacob Simelii of Helsinki. Original pictorial boards with (just about) 1/4 cloth, pp. 163, illustrated by the author with vignettes and including the map at the title. Price in Swedish kroner at the lower cover.The boards are bright and clean, corners lightly bumped/rubbed. Binding firm and square. The block is fresh, free from owner names and scribbles etc. At page 76 there are two tiny marks/stains at the inner margin and there is a tiny spot at the rear endpaper. Otherwise very clean. An attractive copy and signed in blue ink directly to the front endpaper by Tove Jansson.

Helsinki: Schildts, 1968. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. First Edition. The rarest of all Tove Jansson's first editions, the first trade edition of Sculptor's Daughter. As the publisher to whom she submitted her manuscripts Schildts were nervous about this departure from the Moomins series, particularly as the author refused point-blank to illustrate the book. As a small Finnish publishing house which caters only for the Swedish-speaking minority in that country it is likely that no more than 500 copies were printed. In the event, demand exceeded supply and Schildts published a second edition the following year. Incredibly hard-to-find, only the second copy to have passed through our hands in 30 years. A Fine copy in the publisher's 1/4 cloth with handsome marbled boards, pp. 146 with index at the rear. Exceptionally clean with strong gilt titles, no bumping of the extremities, square and tight. The most minor of creasing at the crown. A beautiful copy.

When first published in 1968 Tove Jansson insisted that her first foray into adult's literature would not include illustrations of any kind - so intent was she in distancing herself from the Moomins. By 1994 she had mellowed somewhat and agreed to the inclusion of photographs from her own family archives as well as one of her own drawings for this new edition. The original Schildts Swedish language editions of Tove Jansson's works are always the most difficult to locate due to their comparatively tiny print-runs and this one is no exception - very hard to find and particularly in such superb condition as this one. pp. 167, illustrated, Fine in Fine dustjacket.

Softcover, pp. 146(7), index, plain white card covers in dustjacket which is fixed to the book at the spine. 21 x 13 cm, edges untrimmed. A signed presentation copy of this important book from the author to her Godmother, the artist Ragni Cawen. At the front endpaper the author has written "Till Ragni av Tove. -68" and underneath has drawn a little heart. A unique and touching copy. Shelf-worn at the edges and corners of the covers and showing its age a little but overall in VG condition.

Tampere, Finland: Tampere Art Museum, 1986. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Near Fine. First Printing. An incredibly rare item of Moomins memorabilia. In 1986 Tove Jansson and her life-partner, the artist Tuulikki Pietilä, donated a huge collection of Moomins-related artwork to Tampere Art Museum, Finland. The collection comprised over 1000 drawings and paintings and 38 three-dimensional tableaux. The collection was first displayed in The Moomins exhibition at Tampere Art Museum along with other original sketches and book illustrations by Jansson. The tableaux were miniature Moomin-themed dioramas crafted by Jansson, Tuulikki Pietilä and their friend, Pentti Eistola. The donation also comprised other works of art by Jansson as well as archival Moomins-related material. An exhibition catalogue was, of course, published to mark the occasion and we are pleased to be able to offer for sale a particularly significant example. A revised version of the very scarce catalogue for the huge collection of Moomins-related artwork donated to Tampere Art Museum by Tove Jansson and her partner, Tuulikki Pietilä, in 1986. The collection comprised over 1000 drawings and paintings and 38 three-dimensional tableaux and forms the majority of what is now The Moomins Museum. pp. 72, illustrated with photos and illustrations and with additional short essays by Raili Pietilä and Anneli Ilmonen.
