Extracted from "The Centenary of Wesleyan Methodism". John Wilson, Printer. Previous owners' name and address on f.e.p. Minor foxing on first few pages and last two pages. The frontispiece of Rev. John Wesley has imprinted itself on the title page, not a problem as far as I'm concerned.

Paseka was lucky and was adopted by a small herd of elephants. About half the pages have some minor rippling along the top couple of inches but no staining or odor.
The accompaning d.j. has the same front and back illustrations of the book itself. Some minor creasing of rear of jacket, plus a 1" tape repair at the bottom of the spine.
Also added to the book is a 4-page section telling Paseka's story in Kiswahili.

An Excerpt: "The Canadian Escort Group C-2 was comprised of the RCN destroyers Gatineau and Chaudiere, the frigate St. Catharines, the corvettes Chilliwack and Fennel, and the RN destroyer Icarus. These six and the RN corvette Kenilworth Castle combined to sink U-744 in the North Atlantic, in a prolonged drama on March 5 and 6, 1944. At 32 hours, this was the second-longest successful hunt of the war."

B/W photography by Yvan Vallee. 16 b/w photos, including one of Grant Johnston in the book and on the front of the box that protects the collection. The author was born in Quebed City in 1941 and has worked as a newspaperman in Quebec, Timmins and Montreal. A descendant of Susanna Moodie, the early Canadian writer, Grant spent many summers in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, living with fishermen and writing poetry. (Sadly, the poet and a passenger died in a car crash in 2004.)
