Contemporary half red morocco over marbled boards preserving original wrappers, spines with raised bands and gilt-decorated compartments, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt others uncut. Title-pages printed in red and black. Engraved portrait frontispiece and 12 engraved plates. Some faint rubbing to extremities of spines, very faint occasional light spotting, contents generally very clean, overall a very good copy. Jean de La Fontaine (1621-1695) was the most famous French fabulist and one of the most widely read French poets of the 17th century. He is known above all for his Fables, which provided a model for subsequent fabulists across Europe and numerous alternative versions in France, and in French regional language.

Dervaud et frères Henry, avec les nouveaux caractères de la fonderie de Didot l'aîné, gravés par Firmin Didot, son second fils. 2 vols. 8vo. (19.5 x 11 cm). Continuous pagination. pp.cxv+478+[1]. Contemporary mottled leather, sides ruled with french fillet, flat spines ruled and decorated in gilt, each with red morocco label, gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, green silk ribbon page-markers, all edges gilt. Engraved vignettes to each title-page. Lightly rubbed, two small wormholes to upper joint of volume 1 and to lower joint of volume 2, contents pristine and firm, generally a very good set.

Paris: Garnier Frères, Libraires-Éditeurs, 6, rue des Saints-Pères, [c.1850].. Large 8vo. (26.5 x 17 cm). Contemporary binding by Ch. Magnier of red morocco over red pebbled cloth boards, sides stamped and ruled in blind, spine with raised bands and richly gilt-decorated compartments, white silk moiré endpapers, green silk ribbon page-marker, all edges gilt. Engraved frontispiece, title vignette, and numerous vignettes in the letterpress, all by Grandville. Very occasional light scattered foxing, generally an excellent copy in a mint binding. LIMITED EDITION 124/230 As issued, pp.[iv+440 ]loose in original blue card portfolio (43.5 x 34.5 cm), backed in white vellum, white paper title label to upper, lettered in black and ruled in red; original ties. 15 full page hand-coloured etchings with titled tissue guards and numerous b & w illustrations in the text. A few minor blemishes, generally a very good copy.

[Paris: Lucien Vogel, 1919-1922].. Original etching on laid paper (c. 33 x 25 cm). The 6 issues of Les Feuillets d'Art were published in Paris by Vogel between May 1919 and July 1920. Les Feuillets was issued in limited edition portfolio form. Each issue contained 5 feuillets, or leaves, on the subjects of literature, theatre, arts and design, music, and fashion (issues 3 through 6 have a sixth leaf, les feuillets de la publicité.) Vogel intended for Les Feuillets to be a fashion-savvy review in which he professed a dedication to "finding in the taste of the moment all that is traditional and durable." To accomplish his goal Vogel brought together the crème de la crème of the literary, artistic and musical worlds of 1920's Paris. Amazingly there is poetry by Paul Claudel, the younger brother of sculptor Camille Claudel, the first publication of a composition by Maurice Ravel, and original woodblock prints by Raoul Dufy, Odilon Redon, and John Storrs. Copntemporary half green morocco over green cloth boards, spines gilt. 36 full page hand-coloured plates Ex libris Edward Nicholas Hurt with his armorial book-plates. Variable foxing to the plates, bindings lightly rubbed, spines a little faded.
