Description:
A Dijon, chez Mairet, papetier, 1818. 12mo. 228 pages. 5 lithographic plates, off-text. Contemporary half-calf, smooth back decorated with gilt fillets. First Augmented Edition, printed in Châtillon-sur-Seine, of the first French work on lithography. It was published for the first time in Dijon in 1818, just before Senefelder's famous treatise on the same topic. Gabriel Peignot stated about the 1818 edition, in "Essai historique sur la lithographie", that everything is so substantial in this work that it is impossible to give an analysis of it, so it should be copied in its entirety. It includes, among other things, a description of the various lithographic processes ("Dessin à l'encre", "Dessin à la pointe", etc.), recommendation about the choice of stones and inks, and printing advices ("Choix des couleurs à imprimer, et manière de les broyer", etc.) This edition was enlarged for the first time with an essay on binding, which includes explanatory details on gilding and the color of the skins. Description:
La Haye, Chez les Libraires Associés, 1767. 12mo. 3 leaves. CVI. 340 pages. 1 leaf (errata). 1 folding table. Full marbled calf, spine gilt (contemporary binding). First Edition of this work by the Marquis de Mirabeau (1715-1789), disciple of Quesnay and one of the greatest theoreticians of physiocratic doctrine. It contains the essential principles of the school and the "economic science" it represented. Mirabeau, who regarded this work as fundamental for the diffusion and understanding of the theoretical principles of the physiocratic movement, declared in his long preliminary address (106 pages) that he had written this handbook because he was the only person who could or wanted to do it and he had done it with confidence because he knew where he was going and where he was coming from. Folding plate representing the "Tabeau Economique". Good copy in contemporary binding (slightly restored). Einaudi, 3948. INED, 3197. Kress, 6477.
