A two volume set, without slipcase and blank bird bookplate. 530pp., 5311069pp., 36 color plates, 74 illus. by Louis Aagassiz Fuertes, 4 maps, folio, lacks slipcase. 4to green cloth. Clean and tight, no names, bright with sharp corners. Lower corner bumped. Slipcase bright with crack beginning along portion of bottom edge.Careful packing. BASIC 155 "The original manuscript weighed over 100 lbs. Oberholser died before the project of "paring down" was finished and it was Edgar Kincaid who agreed to continue the project without compensation." Fuertes (1874-1927) skill in painting these wonderful creatures so that they look alive, is much admired by birders today most of whom do not care for the melodramatic actors in feathers of Audubon.
