NY: Edward Dunigan & Brother (James B. Kirker), 1857. First edition.. Original brown cloth stamped in blind, the spine lettered in gilt. Yellow end papers. Ex-library from a religious order, with residual numbers at the base of the spine, internal labels and stamps at the front, basically very good otherwise. Two leaves of ads at the rear, and the half-title leaf also bound at the rear. A complete copy. Brownson was associated with the New England Transcendentalists in the 1830s, and converted to Catholicism in 1844.
