Description:
Philadlphia: Jas. B. Rodgers, 1865. VG, small piece missing on bottom of spine. Tight and square./None. A really rare manual dealing with medications when there were horrible theories on how to treat diseases. Paine believed in treating the disease and leaving other parts of the body that seemed OK alone. Book signed by a Dr. H. Williams, May 1868. He has written and highlighted with pencil some passages. Not in any of my references. It is no wonder why ill soldiers skipped sick call because the "cure" could be worse than the malady.

Description:
Philadelphia: John Campbell, 1865. Stated third thousand. Wraps. Smokey colored wraps, leading edges of wraps chipped with both wraps present and holding tight./None. Housed in a cardboard clam shell binder.. Patterson has often been labeled as the goat and reason the Union lost the battle of First Manassas. His task was to hold the Confederate forces in the Valley in place to prevent them from reinforcing those at Manassas where the main Union attack was to take place. He didn't and through the first major railroad military transport of troops Johnston arrived in the nick of time. Defensive in nature as might be expected. Has an index and a map as a frontise.
