Tolkien read his landmark Sir israel Gollancz Memorial Lecture on 25th Nov 1936, it was first published on the 1st July 1937 in an edition of 500 (of which this is the 2nd printing) and later appeared in Vol 22 of the printed annual Proceedings of the Academy on the 30th December 1937. This edition released 15 years following ERB's death and arund 30 years after his marriage to Florence Gilbert. A marriage which caused a big family rift, illustrated by the covering of the dedication to Florence Gilbert. The first 125 copies the dedication was covered by a semi-opaque sticker while the remaining copies were covered with a green sticker, this copy being one of the latter. Total printing of around 3000-4000 copies as per normal for publisher. A fine copy in a fine clipped jacket. Few minor spots on fore-edge, otherwise in very fine condition.
