London: Printed and sold by all the Bookksellers., 1759.. 1759 16mo. 150 [i.e.160] p. Frontis. Period style calf binding, lettered direct to the spine. A cheap chapbook production on soft paper. The frontis.and title are soiled and the first and final leaves have a little loss by abrasion, nowhere affecting the text. The text itself is an augmented version of 'A journey to Jerusalem' attributed in the Dictionary of national biography to Nathaniel Crouch. 'A strange and true account' is by H. Timberlake; 'The travels of fourteen Englishmen' is by N. Crouch; 'Relation of the great council' is by Samuel Brett; 'The counterfeit Messiah' is from John Evelyn's 'History of the three late famous imposters'. It includes: 'A brief chronology concerning the Jews' by Nath. Holmes. ESTC T70885. Scarce.

The spines are slightly faded and there are some marks to the cloth of Vol. 1. There is faint spotting to the plates and more pronounced spotting to the page edges. Otherwise a clean and tight set. Bookplates of Paul Latham, M.P. and restorer of Hurstmonceux Castle. Number 381 of 4300 numbered sets.

William Heinemann,, 1913.. 1913 Grey green cloth, gilt with a bird block below the title on the front board and a cat similarly placed on the spine. No dustwrapper. 44 tipped in coloured plates, mounted on card. All with numbered and captioned tissues. First trade edition with Rackham's (uncompleted) book plate printed on the front board paper. The cloth shows a few faint marks, with a small ink stain at the foot of the front board. Spine darkened. Endpapers browned with minor spotting of some of the tissues but the plates clean and bright. Blank lower corner torn from tissue 3. Top edge coloured. Contents otherwise clean and tight. A very good copy. Deservedly regarded as one of the most desirable of Rackham's collections with fantasy and fairy story subjects drawn and coloured to perfection.

Mind of the Front., engraved portrait, engraved frontispiece (lower corner with loss to the blank margin, nowhere near the printed area), eight folding maps, title page printed in red and black. Contemporary blind panelled calf with an older reback, corners show a little wear. Spine with raised bands and a contrasting label. Lower corner of leaves at the beginning of the volume dampstained but this rapidly fades then disappears. Internally clean and tight except for the dampstains and the old endpapers preserved. A sound copy with the maps in better than average state.
