Washington D.C.: Hydrographic Office, under the superintendence of the Secretary of the Navy. [Wwith corrections up to] 1948. 79 x 122 cm. Large sea chart of the waters of northern Bermuda. Depths soundings profusely indicated across the chart, those areas with depths of 18 feet or under shaded in light blue/green. A few annotations in pink ink. The whole folded into six. Very good condition.

Lightly scuffed along extremities, contents clean and unmarked, generally a very good copy. George Sale (1697 1736) was a British Orientalist and lawyer who first published his edition of the Qur'an 1734; it was the first edition of the Qur'an to have been translated into English directly from Arabic, becoming a landmark text in Qur'anic studies. Due to its vast popularity, it remained in print well into the first half of the 20th century with over 120 editions available.
