Public Affairs Press - Washington DC, 1948. Hardcover. Good. Dust jacket missing. Red cloth boards are faded on the edges and at the spine and have light scuffing. Corner tips are bumped and top and bottom of the spine have really been bumped. Gilt lettering on spine has faded, but gilt lettering on front cover less so. Text block is yellowed with light foxing on the top of the text block. Near the spine, the text block has darkened and is soiled/dirty. The gutters between the paste downs and end pages are very yellowed and discolored, same with the leaves of book. Binding remains fairly tight. Readable copy.

DJ has bumped and worn corner tips, crimped and chipped edges, foxing and a tear at top edge of front of DJ. Blue boards have light blue lettering on spine, and the logo stamped at bottom right of cover. Corner tips are bumped, with bumped head and heel of spine. Pages are lightly mellowed, darker in gutters. Foxing on paste downs and endsheets. Spine is slightly cocked to left. Rear free end page has penciled price from many years ago. 304 pages.

Pickering & Inglis LTD. , N/A. Softcover. Acceptable. 14th edition, post-1939, revised to include events of 1939 and more than likely printed in 1940. Pickering & Inglis was a well-established publisher of Christian materials. This copy was initially sold through Loizeaux Brothers, an entity begun in the late 1880's in NYC, to distribute and sell reading materials of a Biblical nature. The cardstock wraps, with folded flaps, have faded somewhat and are fragile. Bumped and worn corner tips. Heal and heel of spine are chipped and worn, with chipping to the top layer of the cardstock on rear wrap along the entire top edge. Crimped and rubbed along all outer edges of the wraps. Front inside flap is clipped, however a price tag exists at top of flap and that has left an outline on the title page. The Modern Library, 1959. Hardcover. Acceptable. First Modern Library edition. No dust jacket. Gray cloth boards, with titling in gilt on black background. Staining to boards and text block on the lower corner near spine. The stain runs on a diagonal from an inch and half from bottom of spine to and inch and a half from spine edge. The text block is stained next to the spine. This stain does not affect the interior pages. Other areas of stained and dirty areas on boards. Shelf wearing to heel of spine. Splitting of hinges between title page and fly leaf and at rear. Pages are clean. Binding in decent condition. 302 pages with additional pages of Modern Library titles.

Light smudges on outside page edges.

The glue has darkened in the hinges near pastedowns. Pages are unmarked. A brochure for a tourist attraction was tucked between a couple of pages and that left a darkened area. 331pp.

Harry N. Abrams, Inc. , 1965. Hardcover. Good. What a beautiful book! Gorgeous green satin/silk colored boards with bright gilt wording on front and on spine. The cloth is clean and bright, along with a bright, colorful tipped in floral plate on front board, and the book is filled with similar tipped in beautiful plates! Over 400 illustrations. Original clear plastic dust jacket has some shrinking to the bottom edges, but is not cracking or seriously yellowed, although it is scuffed (doing it's job admirably). It's obvious this book was taken care of very well. The corners are nice and sharp, and bottom of spine or boards show no rubbing or damage. The glossy paper stock has yellowed over the years, as this type of paper is prone to do. Lower corner of the text block does have light thumb-staining, and smaller stains to the bottom of text-block. Please note that this is a large, heavy book and will cost a little more to ship. Beautiful book!

Smyth sewn binding is holding together, with no loose pages, although splitting is observed between a few page signatures.
