This "retold" version of the Brothers Grimm story by Edith Tarcov is heavily illustrated by Edward Gorey, lending a particular tone to the classic tale. Book is clean and bright, unmarked and tight. Front endpaper hs darkened from a newspaper reproduction of a Gorey illustration (included) that appeared in New York Times Book Review. Dust jacket is very good; front flap has original price.

This stunning presentation of Coleridge's Ancient Mariner is marked with unusual and evocative engravings by artist Paul McPharlin. The art is imaginative blue, while the text is two-color--black and red. This limited edition (one of 1450 copies printed) is so unusual and so little known. The cream linen boards are darkened on the spine edge the the spine also darkened from light exposure, but the impressed art on the cover is fine. The interior is unmarked, clean and bright. the box is faded on edges and somewhat worn, with a tear on 1/4th of the bottom but otherwise good.

This trim edition of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner was done by Oxford University Press, designed by Bruce Rogers and printed by John Johnson. It is one of 750 copies. Book is near mint condition, as is the light tan dust jacket. Picture shows the darkened cellophane covering (except for top left corner), but this is easily removed to reveal lovely dust jacket and blue binding below that. Two-color print job, with decorations.

This is elaborate, beautifully produced edition of the Coleridge poem. In elaborate script with intricate design borders and line drawings. Also, many tipped-in color prints. Remarkable, well-known presentation.The binding is loose (see picture) and some beginning pages are loose but most of the book's signatures are tight, sewn. Easy repair. Front and back boards are very good, spine is darkened from exposure to light.

Clean, tight copy of this book in the Eloise series. Lots of Russian jokes, plus a tour of the Moscow subway stations and inside the Kremlin. Front of dust jacket is a newpaper motif, with Eloise en route to Moscow. All very clever. Front flap has price clipped.

Tomas Transtromer, winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Literature, was a poet and psychologist. This edition of his work was translated by noted poet Robert Bly. The Swedish version of his book was a pamphlet published in 1970, one of the first publications of the new Writers' Publishing House in Stockholm. This translation was published in the United States in 1971. It was hand-set. Another edition of this book was published in London in 1972, but this is earlier edition.
This paperback is in very good condition, with only a few markings on the last couple of pages. It was the copy of American poet May Swenson, who was a translator of Transtromer's poetry (Windows and Stones, 1972) and she used this copy as research.
Also with this book is offered a single sheet, a poem by Transtromer called "The Man Awakened By A Song, Above His Roof" that was also translated by Robert Bly.
