A handsome very good copy. Quite uncommon with only one copy showing at University of California, Davis and one copy at the F.D.R. library.

Volume 2, Number 3 of this underground newspaper / magazine documenting the hippie scene in the Yorkville area of Toronto in the late 60's. 30 pp including covers. Great Human Be-In advertisement on the rear panel. Article on Gathering of the Tribes and formation of the Yorkville Diggers included in this issue. Printed on inexpensive newspaper stock. Paper is a bit toned with age as might be expected, otherwise in unmarked very good condition. Uncommon as are all the issues of this magazine.

Philadelphia: Yarrowstalks, 1967. First edition. Paperback. Very Good. Tabloid underground newspaper. The scarce first issue of Brian Zahn's underground newspaper publication which ran for twelve issues. This is the newsprint format version. Folded once horizontally and with small chips and tears to the inexpensive quality newspaper stock. A very good copy overall. This issue especially notable for the first appearance of R. Crumb's Mr. Natural, a 20-panel psychedelic comic strip as well as "The Trip" and some additional drawings. It also includes a two page interview with Timothy Leary. Among the earliest of all Crumb published appearances.

The first issue was entitled Gothic Blimp Works Prsents: Jive Comics. Originally edited by Vaughn Bode, but laterBhob Stewart, Kim Deitch and others. Billed as the first Sunday underground comic paper. Illustrated in both color and black and white. All eight issues are folded. Each issue shows edgewear (particularly Issue No. 1 which is in only good condition). The other seven issues vary slightly in condition, but are generally in very good condition. Rare complete set. Should be handled with care due to paper age and toning.

Six early issues from the first year of publication of Columbia University's student answer to their west coast counterparts in the world of underground newspapers. Columbia definitely took the higher ground with less psychedelia and more serious content. Still, issues covered varying subjects of protest and the Viet-Nam war. Issue size varied, but all include anywhere from 10 to 18 pages. Some light expected tanning to paper, else very good indeed. Roughly 11 x 15" tall. Surprisingly uncommon.
