It was issued under the auspices of the New York City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In 1851 Blairsville Female Seminary was founded by Presbyterian paster George Hill. The Seminary started out in a single building and eventually became a chartered college in 1893. This book is the history of the school and its mission to educate young women. The book is divided into several sections entitled, "History of the Blairsville Ladies' Seminary', 'History of the Seminary from 1876 to 1881', 'History of the Seminary from 1881 to 1886', 'History of the Seminary from 1886 to 1891', 'History of the Seminary from 1891 to 1896', and 'History of the College from 1896 to 1901". England, 1947. A humorous sketch book and friendship album owned by Madgie Varney, given to her by Bob (Robert) Varney in 1908. The album has over 65 original art work, with 3 photographs, and two music scores. Approximately 10 pieces are done either by Madgie or R M Varney. The majority of the pieces are humorous in tone, for example a drawing of two large leaves hanging on a clothes line with the caption, "First Washing Day". Some of the artwork has been pasted in, while others were drawn directly on the page. A variety of mediums were used, such as pencil, ink, and watercolor. The majority of the pieces were drawn between 1908-1910s, however there are some as late as the 1940s. There are two images from the Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. From a series called 'Funf Wein-Bilder ' published by Christian Stoll, Plauen i./V.. Germany, 1888/1889. Signed in plate: Hermann Vogel, H. Vogel, H.V. Rich elaborate designs with bacchanalian characteristics. Grapes, veins, whimsy, Romanticism with touches of Art Nouveau. Gilt border design and decoration 11.75" by 6.75" Vogel was a famous illustrator/artist of German birth, French citizenship, known for his fairy tale and children's illustrations incl. Grimm volumes. Success came as a result of a close collaboration with the Munich publishing house Braun & Schneider, who published many of his works in the " Fliegende Blatter " and "Munich in Pictures'.

1910. Fine.. Two photographs notable for their unusually tall rectangular shape. The subjects are a young woman named Earla Viola Steade Rowley and her mother. Each measures roughly 14.25" by 4", and details to the images have been added with watercolor and light pencil. They are signed in pencil by Vreeland (i.e. Rosa Vreeland?) under the image and the subjects are labeled in pencil on the verso. Earla Viola Steade Rowley (1887-1966) married Arthur Merriam Rowley (b.1883) in 1911. Arthur was a descendant of the founders of G. and C. Merriam, publishers of Webster's Dictionary.
