Pierce, Jr. dated April 1877 on ffep. The younger Pierce was son of the famous Georgian George F. Pierce, Sr. (1811-84), Methodist Episcopal bishop and college president. Stephens (1823-72) was a Civil War veteran and post bellum Georgia Supreme Court justice, brother of Confederate Vice President Andrew Stephens.
