Abner Doble was a technically-advanced innovator in steam powered vehicles. The history of the company with descriptions of steam engines and chassis designs, highly technical explanations of steam power, and black and white photos of automobiles, steam railcars, buses, trucks. Included is a one page subscription form for "Light Steam Power," a magazine published in the Isle of Man by the book publisher (see photos).

True first edition/first printing with Rinehart logo on copyright page. Pages are evenly and lightly foxed throughout for the first inch or so from edges, common for a book of this age printed on less-expensive paper. Wylie was a prolific writer; this book concerns how two neighboring cities prepare for a nuclear blast, written during the cold war. "Wylie's 1954 novel Tomorrow! dealt graphically with the civilian impact of thermonuclear was to make a case for a strong Civil Defense network in the United States, as he told the story of two neighboring cities (one prepared, one unprepared) before and after an attack by missile-armed Soviet bombers.
