A wonderful album of over 100 photographs of Africa, c. 1900. Prints are 4 1/2" x 6 1/4" each; book 6 1/2" x 9" x 2 1/4". Mostly portraits of local citizens with a few images of French dignitaries. Some lovely portraits along with very unusual subject matter including two of female children being circumcised, gold mining, royalty and a portrait of lepers. Mostly in fine condition, a smattering are faded. Each image annotated in French. One plate has been removed from its page. Hard cover is detached. Three views of Savannah, Georgia (recto), and two views of Colorado (verso), 1860s. Albumen prints mounted on both sides of mat. (2) Savannah, Georgia prints, 3" x 3"; (1) Savannah, Georgia print 7" x 8 3/4", Colorado views, 5 1/2" x 8". Mounted to 14 1/2" x 18 3/4". Captions in ink beneath prints. Numbered in pencil in the negative. Good condition. Thin/fragile mount pages. Some foxing to mount visible in photos.

A late 19th century folio titled in manuscript on the cover "Photographie" Exotiques" and contains (21) tipped in bromide prints with hand written titles on each page, (19) are approx. 5" x 8" and (2) are 5 1/4" x 4". (15) of the prints are portraits of Creole women sporting their unique style of dress and the remaining (6) are views of tourist subjects, mostly landscapes. Prints are mostly in good condition, a few have tearing along the edges or corners, one has a crease running along the bottom quarter of the print as seen in images; foxing throughout album pages and covers as seen in images. Folio appears to have been section sewed but pages and covers are now detached.

An interesting album of (27) Caribbean albumen prints photographs c. 1890 with 48 board pages. "Thornton (?) J. Perry" written on inside cover, presumably the photographer. Includes some interesting tourist photos with with some unusual subjects including lepers, a fish, (4) exceptional studio portraits of trades people, many scenes with black locals posed at work and in the street. Locales include: Martinique, St. Croix, St. Lucia, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Kitts, Dominica, St. Vincent. Image size ranges from 4" x 5 1/2" to 8 3/4" x 11" Hardcover album with "Photographs" embossed in gold on red album cover. Each photo titled with location and subject on the mount as seen in images. Album is well worn and with the exception of the first two images, the rest is in good condition.

In a small scale leather skin album dated 1922 and titled on inside front cover 'Views in Palestine and Transjordania'. A late 19th century cloth covered album containing over 100 albumen, bromide and other photographs of mostly Cuba and some of Mexico. Includes architecture, ruins, landscapes, and images of the local population in various cities. A nice selection of images by local photographers producing pictures for the tourist trade. Some fascinating character studies of tradesmen and locals in Cuba and Mexico. A number of images relating to the Spanish American War. Album measures 10 1/2" x 13" x 1 1/4", 25 board pages with prints on both sides. Image sizes range from 3 3/4" x 4 1/2" to 6 3/4" x 9". 'Photographs' gilt impressed on cover. This hardcover album of Platinotypes c. 1890 by H. Blancard features (65) platinum prints ((1) cyanotype?) of men, women, children, (3) of these prints are of a male male cross-dresser. Sitters are posed in various attire in a well appointed home. Cover gilt embossed 'Album De Platinotypes, H. Blancard.' Ex-collection Gerard Levy, Paris. 11 1/2" x 9" x 1", 65 pages. Good condition: most prints are fixed to the page with glue, several loosely inserted. Rich exceptional quality platinum prints.

Very good condition. Minimal wear to corners, a few abrasions visible under specular light as seen in photos 4-7.
