[Paris: Lucien Vogel, 1919-1922].. Original lithographic advertisment on laid paper (c. 33 x 25 cm). Pochoir, literally the French word for stencil, is both a centuries-old printmaking process and an important chapter in modern graphic arts. Pochoir came to refer to fine stencil printing in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. It reached its zenith in Paris between 1910 and 1935 where it was used to decorate everything from elegant fashion magazines and limited edition illustrated books, to greeting cards, wallpapers and advertisements. Lucien Vogel, taking full advantage of the pochoir technique in 1912, launched the lavishly illustrated monthly fashion magazine, La Gazette du Bon Ton. Vogel employed some of the greatest illustrators of the day to bring to life the newest creations of the Parisian couturiers. Athens, 1923.. Folding map of Attica (text all in Greek), overall 96 x 79 cm, dissected into 30 sections, backed onto linen, folding into original black pebble cloth covered boards titled in white on upper cover with 51 pp. index inserted. Very good condition.

Original fine pochoir style colour-printed map of the Italian regions of Abruzzo and Molise by Nicouline with gilt-ruled borders housed in portfolio with advertisements for Farmitalia printed to rear. Overall dimensions (23.5 x 33 cm), map dimensions (20.5 x 25.5 cm). A highly pictorial map designed by the Ukrainian born Vsevolde Nicouline (1890-1968) showcasing the history and culture of this particular region of Italy.

London: F.G. Moon. 1842-9. c. 28 x 34 cm. Original tinted lithograph with later hand colouring. Half page. Roberts was the first independent, professional British artist to travel so extensively in the Near East. His tour in 1838-9 produced 272 sketches, a panorama of Cairo and three full sketchbooks, enough material to "serve me for the rest of my life" (Roberts, eastern journal, 28 Jan 1839). Over the next decade he made "a series of intire new drawings" for the large coloured lithographs executed by Louis Haghe for The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt & Nubia, which was originally published by subscription, 1842-9. No publication before this had presented so comprehensive a series of views of the monuments, landscape, and people of the Near East. Thomas Allom (13 March 1804 – 21 October 1872) was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He designed many buildings in London, including the Church of St Peter's and parts of the elegant Ladbroke Estate in Notting Hill. He also worked with Sir Charles Barry on numerous projects, most notably the Houses of Parliament, and is also known for his numerous topographical works, such as Constantinople and the Scenery of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor, published in 1838, and China Illustrated, published in 1845. Service Hydrogrphique et Océanographique de la Marine, 1985.. Two original colour-printed maps on one sheet (59.5 x 84 cm), the first depicting Abu Dhabi, the second Dubai and Sharjah. Old stamp to verso (only partially visible). Excellent condition. With corrections to 1989. A scarce map, we are unable to trace any other copies.
