Doubleday, Doran & Co. Inc, 1945. Hardcover. Good. Hardcover. First edition. No DJ. Orange-ish cloth boards. Lightly faded spine, but black titling and design is not. Heel and head of spine strip are bumped, with other shelf-wear to the bottom edges of boards. Rear board has small ding about an inch from spine. There are a couple of sheets in one of the last page signatures were cut shorter than the rest of the pages. It doesn't affect readability, it just seems to be a manifestation of original binding process. Front corner tips are dented. Front paste down has name written at top. FFE has inscription dated 1949, and erased price. Crack in hinge between half title and title page. Page 341 has crumpled area at page edge. Tiny ding to page 363. Binding is in good shape, very readable copy. 378pp.

Ethel Hess, 2003. Hardcover. Very Good. Foreward by John Nichols. The backside of the FFE has an "errata slip" pasted onto it. The book contains an inscription by the author dated July 30, 2010. Light bumping to the corner tips and heel and head of spine. Light scuffing on covers. Binding is very tight. Interesting book containing many photographs and stories of life on a ranch in New Mexico.135 pps.

The Walker-Turner Co, 1935. Softcover. Acceptable. Greenish softcover wraps, saddle stitched binding. Discoloured and stained. Crimped corners. Scraped and worn edges. Small stains throughout, possibly foxing, but appears to be generic staining. Instructions and diagram breakdown for a Craftsman Model 2262 Jig Saw laid into pages. It has stains as well. Despite obvious aging, contents are relevant and useful for modern application.

McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1960. Hardcover. Acceptable. Poor condition. Loose binding with separation of FFE and back strip. Lots of writing on FFE (names, prices, other numbers) and large stain on backside of page. Green end papers and free end papers are faded with darker staining in the hinges. Bluish green boards are dirty, stained, faded, worn on edges, with corner bumping and a really faded spine. Pages lightly yellowed, darker on the outer text block. All that said, readable copy, it's just not pretty.

Southland Press, Inc, 1974. Softcover. Acceptable. Softcover. A little worse for wear. Stained and scuffed wraps. Scraped along the edges. Bumped corners. Small tears along lower spine edges. Liquid stains along top edges of wraps, but that staining has not affected top edges of pages. This book came from the former Chicano Studies Center at the Univesity of New Mexico, with stamps denoting this on title page and at rear of book. Title page also sports an embossed notary public stamp. A bit of cracking in the hinges front and back but there is no separation of the covers. Nifty little dictionary of Barrio vocabulary written by Dr. Dagoberto Fuentes, Chair of Chicana and Chicano Studies Department at Cal State Fullerton. Co-written with Jose Armando Lopez. 161 pages.

Prentice-Hall , 1953. Hardcover. Good. Hardback. Third printing, September 1953. Aqua boards are clean, with bright gilt titling on wine colored background with gilt border. Spine titling and design are still vivid. No dust jacket. Light wearing to ends of spine. Previous owner name written in top right corner of ffep. Light age-toning to front pastedown and end page. Same with rear pastedown and end paper. Sewn binding is solid, although book tends to fall open between the 5th and 6th page signatures. 384 pages.

F.S. Crofts & Co, 1947. Hardcover. Acceptable. Small primer. Faded reenish cloth covered boards with yellow printing on cover and spine. Dented and worn corners and spine ends. Stain on back cover. Boards tend to curve upward. Age-toned pages. Front paste-down and end page has color map of Spain. Binding is good. All page signatures intact. Small stains on rear end page. Nice reading copy.

1961. Hardcover. Good. Book of fairytales IN POLISH, presumably written by W.A. Zukowski, translated by Anatol Stern with illustrations by Michat Bylina. Beautifully illustrated with colorful woodcuts. Two of the translated titles from Polish to English are "Sleeping Beauty" and "Ivan and the Wolf." No dust jacket, as published. Boards are colorfully illustrated, although yellowed, with scuffing and rubbing. Finger and thumb marks along the edges of the boards. Bumped corners, scraped and chipped along bottom edge. Bumped at head and heel of spine. Text block has yellowed, as have pages. Mellowed to a manila color. Contains illustrated bookmark in German, original to the 1961 publishing. 95pps. Google translation left much to be desired.

Shelf-wearing to the spine ends, with heel of spine being dented. Corners are square, with very little wearing to the tips. Very firm binding. Pages are clear of markings. Former owner name on FFE in pen, with a small area of pencil markings which have been erased. Very nice reading copy. First three page signatures have yellowed slightly. 626 pages.

Covers are scuffed and scratched, with lightly bumped and creased corner tips. small brittle price tag at bottom left of front cover. Minor scraping of edges. Covers and outer text block yellowed with light foxing. Binding still tight.

Pictorial boards, duplicating design of dj, are clean, with just a slight bit of scuffing. Light shelf wear to bottom edges of boards and end of spine. Lightly bumped corner tips. Moisture waving to end papers and first few pages at the front, and last few pages at the back. Probably has more to do with the type of paper stock being exposed to humidity, than it does with pages being wet. Minor cosmetic flaw which does NOT affect the readability or the beautiful and colorful photographs throughout the book. Good sewn binding. No loose pages. No twisting of spine. 207 pages.
