Letters are on Rich’s Cranberry Point Corea Maine letter heads and signed "Virginia." Clint was apparently the owner of, or affiliated with, a Tucson bookstore. Subjects involve review of, and the release of this title. She also mentions the signed, simple labels she has enclosed for Clint’s use. Rich and her husband owned a ranch near Tucson.

This copy has been signed by Hunt on the half-title page, and there is a gift inscription to front end page, dated 1950. Book won a Newbery Honor Award in 1951.

Additionally, O'Callaghan has written a long note on back of final page about her and her character (Deliha West) and signed both as Deliah West and O'Callaghan. Deliha West was the first female P.I. in print.
