Description:
New York: Henry Holt & Company, 1986. 243 pages. Sue Grafton's scarce third Kinsey Millhone mystery. First edition, first printing with number line including "1". This copy is clean and tight in an attractive dust jacket that is clean and has the $14.95 price intact on the front flap. A previous owner has written her name on both front endpapers as well as the date of purchase on the free endpaper. There is a 1/4" slit along the front gutter that I missed the first 2 times I examined the book. The white dust jacket has mellowed slightly but has none of the soiling so common on this book. There is a faint water stain that comes up about 1/2" at the bottom of the spine and along bottom of front panel (again, this is so unnoticeable that I missed this also on my first examination). Much nicer than it sounds and certainly an acceptable copy for the collector--and at an attractive price.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good +. 8vo - over 7¾" -… Read More

New York: Phoenix Press, 1947. 255 pages. 12mo. Scarce first printing of the second of Keeler's webworkian novels featuring crime analyst Tuttleton T. Trotter, a character loosely based on Sherlock Holmes. The plot is typical for Keeler--a deliberately convoluted web of strangely connected people and objects. Keeler was a prolific, though far from successful, writer, but since his death in 1967 he has developed a cult following that now includes science fiction writers Neil Gaiman and Philip José Farmer as well as television writer Ken Keeler. The book is in very good condition: clean and tight, with minor toning of endpapers; a tiny rusty paperclip mark on pages 240 & 241. The dust jacket is in very good condition: clean and bright, with some minor edgewear and a few very short closed tears and is now protected in mylar.. First Edition. Hard Cover. The name baseball team is as-yet unidentified except for the initials "CCA". However, on the verso of the mount are the last names and positions of the players--I do not know whether the order of the names corresponds in any way to the order of the seated players. The photograph has darkened some over the years, but the image is still quite clear. There are some relatively minor scratches. The photo is laid down on its original mount, which has suffered some water damage and chipping, but the photo itself has weathered the storm pretty well.. First Edition. Paper. Carbondale, Illinois: Self Published, 1971. (158) pages. Quite scarce-- WorldCat locates copies in only 12 libraries. The book is an exposé of the attempt to establish what the author perceived to be a CIA front group on the campus of Southern Illinois University. Protests against the Center in large part led to rioting that resulted in the cancellation of classes and the temporary closing of the SIU campus in may 1970. The book is profusely illustrated with photographs of people involved in the Center for Vietnamese Studies. The book is clean and tight, with some minor smearing of lettering on the front cover. There are some tiny cuts in margins of half of the pages--apparently caused by the binding process--they are relatively unobtrusive.. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good +. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
