Promotional bookmark issued by Harper to advertise the first edition of the book, with portrait (Sarony, 1884) of Twain, blurb, etc. On verso is an ad for Josephine Daskam's THE MEMOIRS OF A BABY, also published by Harper in 1904. Unrecorded, but we locate three other examples. This is the earliest known advertising bookmark for any of Twain's works. Cf. BAL 3480.
