These are the original 3 1st edition copies of the earthly paradise by William Morris.  The 1st volume in the set is actually 2 volumes combined into one. Later printings would split these apart As is shown in the product catalog for the 2nd book or volume 3. Also stated in the 3rd volume is the upcoming release of the 4th volume. The date are 1868, 1870, and 1870, respective to their order. This poem by William Morris is an interesting combination of medieval life with the mythologies of ancient Greece and other places such as Scandinavia. It centers around a group of travellers who happen upon a city where classical mythology is still revered. There are a total of 24 stories told in this poem, 12 being from classical mythology and 12 being romantic or medieval. One is told each month, either by the city elders or one of the travellers. The front seal reads "Timaru High School Board", and it is the first Australian Edition. Timaru is in New Zealand. I looked through them and they are all quite beautiful in my opinion. Dust jackets in fair condition with some rips and general wear to the edges, but overall is still intact And reasonably viewable. ottowa: graphic publishers limited, 1930. First Edition . Cloth. Good. The best collector's copy of this classic Canadian novel that you will ever find. This is because it contains a bonus epilogue that was pasted on by the author himself. In addition, it also contains a pasted on poem in the front. However, I have found another copy with a pasted on poem but have not found any copies with the added epilogue. I believe that the author owned this book himself and made the epilogue about a year later as it is dated August 17th 1931 in Peterborough. The poem is dated February of the same year and so must have been done at a different time. For those that do not know, Roger Vardon was the pen name of Frederick Montague de la Fosse. So the book contains two extra pieces of text pasted on and signed by the author, along with an inscription and signature on the title page. The actual condition is good. The covers are moderately faded but hinges and binding are good along with clean pages.… Read More
