Helsinki: Gebers, 1957. 3rd Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. Third edition. pp. 156, illustrated throughout with vingnettes and half/full page illustrations by the author. Rubbed/slightly bumped at the corners and along the edges of the boards, and a few minor scrapes to the surface of both covers. The block is reasonably fresh and not browned. Free from owner names etc, there is a small stain to the margin of page 13 see picture). Signed in blue ink by Tove Jansson at the front endpaper.

London: Hutchinson, 1992. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. The author's first novel. Original black cloth with silver gilt titles to the backstrip. Pushed a little at the spine tips, the corners are sharp, the book is square and tight, the text-block remarkably fresh. Free from previous owner names etc, pretty much a Fine copy. The dustjacket is unclipped with no tears or nicks to the edges. It is, however, oddly creased and just a little bit stretched - the front flap may have been used as a book mark by a previous owner. Also quite creased at the crown. Neverthless, it looks great and is spotlessly clean - a VG jacket. Now becoming scarce in the first edition.

London: Viking, 1997. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First Printing. Text-block yellowed, bumped at the corners and spine tips with resulting rubbing to the jacket in those places also. SIGNED by the author at the title page.

Finland: United Artists, 1972. 1st Edition 1st Printing. No Binding. Very Good. A scarce and attention-grabbing cinema-used Finnish movie poster for Satyricon directed by Federico Fellini. The film took its time getting to Finland and was first screened in 1972 with no further subsequent theatrical releases. Standard Finnish A2-sized, 24" x 16" approx. No printer or artist information. There are a few condition issues. There is a 2-inch tear at the top right edge. Noticeable Couple of small nicks at the edges. Pinholes at corners. As usual with 70's and later posters the glossier type of finish more easily attracts surface damage and there a few minor surface scrapes. Appears to have been rolled with no folding crease visible. Notwithstanding these faults, the poster still presents really well and will look great under glass. Very Good

London: Hutchinson, 1982. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. First UK Printing. A tidy copy of this short-story collection which is becoming less easy to find. Text-block lightly toned. Bumped at the crown. Otherwise, tight and square, a nice copy, Near Fine. The dustjacket is not clipped and neither is it priced suggesting that this copy was intended for export originally. SIGNED by the author at the title page .

Fine in slightly self-creased dustjacket (along the edges and at the spine tips). SIGNED at the title page by the author.

Bumped at the spine tips but a straight, tight, clean copy. Dustjacket has minor shelf creasing to edges, minor rubs to corners.

Collections of short stories by leading Irish authors of the time. Volume 1 is SIGNED by Roddy Doyle at the half-title and the second volume has been SIGNED by Dermot Bolger and Ellis Ni Dhuibne. Nice item, especially with the signatures, and some good reading. Each volume Near Fine in like dustjackets.

A tidy copy - small strip of the spine sunned at the heel, tiny mark to the upper cover, else Near Fine in Near Fine unclipped dustjacket which has two parallel strips of off-setting from the covers to its inside surface - not visible from outside.

A nice, clean copy, free from owner names etc. The paper has browned with age and the spine of the book is also a little darkened. Minor edge wear to te wrappers but remains presentable.

Has been read, however, and therefore showing some minor signs of previous use. Small tear to jacket at the crown and top edge of the lower cover.

Finland: Monogram Pictures, 1953. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. A standard Finnish A2 one-sheet, cinema poster for the Western, Fort Osage, starring Rod Cameron. The film was first screened in Finland in 1953 with no further theatrical releases. This poster is not a re-issue or a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related. The "small" standard vintage Finnish film poster is the most common and collected version and approximates in size to the German or Hungarian A2. Sizes do vary very slightly depending on the printers involved and the era. Stylistically, vintage Finnish movie posters rarely reproduce the same art-work from the original studios' publicity material. Older films were usually re-named in Finnish (and Swedish below) but nearly always referenced the original title of the movie somewhere in the presentation. The film premiered in Finland in August 1996. Standard Finnish A2 size, measuring approximately 16" x 23.5. Titles in Finnish and Swedish, no printer/artist info. Condition: C8/9, Very Fine, a rolled poster. Glossy finish and thicker paper-stock commensurate with the era. One set of staple holes to each corner, inked number (20) written in ink to verso, twice. Without nicks/tears, very minor edge creases in places, excellent clean condition.
