Pages are age-toned, with staining to some pages, small rips to other pages. Smyth sewn binding. A few sections are loose, with mull cloth exposed. Bumped page corners. Gunma Museum of Natural History, 2003. Softcover. Good. Exhibition catalog in Japanese. Glossy pages full of photographs of various and sundry insects. The exhibition was influenced by Jean-Henri Fabre, who was a French naturalist and entomologist. Bumped tips, lightly scuffed wraps, with a bit of a wave to the pages.

Newman was a photojournalist for Sports Illustrated, beginning in 1953. He was the official photographer for Sports Illustrated for the 1960 Olympic games. His photographs have graced the walls of some of the prominent museums and art galleries in the U.S. Born in 1927, at the time of this description (June 2023), Newman is still living at the ripe of age of 95.

Half bound, dark brown leather spine with raised bands, gilt still visible. Darker brown leather along the spine and across corners. Patterned, marble-esque, paper overlay on front and rear board. Brown and tan swirled paste-downs and end papers. Rubbing to bottom edge of boards, with paper more scraped than the leather. Rubbing to paper along outside edges and on top of the boards. Bumped corner tips with light wearing to the corners. Scraping to raised bands. Staining to dark leather along spine. The front flyleaf page opposite title page is showing peeling to the top layer of the page, towards the spine. Title page has small pencil notations in French. Smudges on title page. Three numerals in red marker on upper right corner of FFE. 320 pages. This book is the 4th in the "Discover Emilia-Romagna" series.

Upper portion of spine has had clear tape (not cellophane) placed over it to prevent further tearing. There is a small chip to the upper edge of spine, thus the preventative measure taken. Covers are otherwise scuffed, a little yellowed, and has lightly dented corners. Interiors of wraps are quite discolored. Rear wrap is yellowed and pages lightly yellowed. Really neat little book. 101 pages.

Small sticker of previous owner on upper corner of front paste down. Clipped to the FFE is a very old, vintage photograph of two duffers pictured on the links, dated 1926. With that is a card denoting the book was gifted to club members and stating only 1,500 copies of the book were available. Pages are in nice shape, not fragile and not age-toned, but merely a manila color. Neat, nostalgic look back at a golf club known for hosting several U.S. Opens and a course on which legends have played. Full of terrific black and white photos. Non-paginated.
