First edition. xv, [1], 291, [1], [12]pp publisher's adverts., frontispiece and 94 wood engravings in the text. Original decorative green gilt cloth. Some slight rubbing. Loosely inserted is the original prospectus for the work, noting it as 'sold by Charles Turner, Royal Nurseries, Slough.' 8vo. Frederick Warne and Co. 1868. ~ The first edition of the author's first book. In 1867 Robinson represented the nursery garden firm of Veitch at the Paris Exhibition, where he was impressed by French horticulture especially in public gardens and published the present work as a result. He praises the efficiency of Paris's market gardens, the 'city-gardening', the artistry of indoor plant decoration and the excellent quality of fruit. He writes that it is only in large private gardens that the English excel.

1929. Unbound. Good. Godfrey Fox Bradby - letter re his novel Lanchester Tradition He wishes to pass on thanks for a generous mention in the Bookman... "the capacity of one's head for swelling is not unlimited". "By the way John Murray has recently published a cheap edition of the Lanchester Tradition.! The Lanchester Tradition by GF Bradby, published in 1913, "remains one of the best stories of school life ever written". Godfrey Fox Bradby (1863-1947) was a schoolmaster at Rugby School, who also had a wide-ranging literary career. He wrote poems, novels, literary criticism and hymns.

Dublin: William Curry, Jun., and Company. 1835. ~ The earliest edition recorded under this title on Copac is for 1834, but it is a revised edition of his Guide to the Lakes of Killarney (1822). The plates are engraved by R. Mason from illustrations by George Petrie and Andrew Nicholl. Copac records Belfast as the only Irish library location.
