Girolamo Maggi was a lawyer and writer born at Anghiari in Tuscany. He settled in Venice in about 1560. His published works include a poem on the wars in Flanders. Having been made a prisoner by the Turks in Cyprus, he attempted to escape and was recaptured and later was strangled to death in Constantinople in 1572.
