Description:
San Francisco, CA: UFO Posters, 1967. Dulley, John. Four-color offset lithograph poster, incorporating figures stylized after the Kama Sutra and an early modern engraving partitioned as letters. The engraving uses, by rearrangement, what appears to be the printer's mark of Sigismund Feyerabend, with the motto: "Si cupis ut celebri stet tua fama loco, pervigiles habeas oculos animumque sagacem." UFO Gallery, located at 1608 Haight Street, was a regular and central venue for grassroots and countercultural art shows and performances. Slight toning to edges, else near fine. (22 3/8 by 16 3/8 in.).

Description:
NY: Sociedade de Tratadas Americana, 1870. 24mo. 63pp. Engraved frontispiece and two further engravings in the text, all showing the white Henriquinho, born in Dinapore, India, in the company of non-white caretakers, who nurture him in his orphanhood. The tale and its imagery provide a rare window into the Portuguese juvenalia representing, and justifying, the colonial effort. Printed in Portuguese, likely for the diaspora in the United States, but with "Port. Little Henry." on frontispiece recto, presumably to aid the bookseller categorize the book. A rare American Tract Society translation known in only two institutional holdings. Bound in publisher's red cloth over boards, blind-tooled and with gilt spine titling. Binding shows staining, bumps, and overall rubbing, but interior quite crisp and neat. Very good overall.
