Thomas Palmer was born on 13 Aug 1835 at Stonington, CT. He was the son of farmer Alden Palmer (1802-1876) and Nancy Davis Palmer, who were married on 10 Oct 1831. Alden Palmer was the son of Thomas & Lucy Palmer of Stonington. Besides Thomas, Alden & his wife had seven other children: Harriet Jane, Mary Rossiter, Alden Jr., Lucy Woodbridge, Eugene, Emeline, and Eliza Babcock, all born in Stonington. Collection of 114 letters, 318 pp., most with retained mailing envelopes, dated 1869-1891, with the bulk dating from the 1880s. Four of the letters are not dated, but fall within the general time frame. The collection also includes 16 postcards dated 1879-1887.All of the letters appear to be incoming correspondence to Moss M. Nash, of Martinsburgh, New York, and Lorain, Ohio. They are written by his parents, sister, cousin, and several friends from his school boy days. His father writes at least twenty letters, his mother nine. His sister Lottie writes eight letters. His cousin Martin S. Butrick, of Edwardsville, New York (his mother's side of the family) writes to him on at least fourteen occasions. A friend, Charles Hough, writes to him on a number of occasions, as do friends named Mell and Will. Will is at Fort Collins, Colorado and Mell moved to New York City to become an artist, later relocating to Utica.

There are significant condition issues, paper browned and brittle, separated along folds with considerable loss at intersection of center fold, tears repaired with archival tissue. Despite the issues of condition, a unique document listing the estate inventory of a unique figure, a pioneer printer, publisher, and journalist in colonial Philadelphia.
Manuscript estate inventory of Andrew Bradford, pioneer printer and journalist of Philadelphia, who died November 24, 1742. Bradford printed the first newspaper in the middle colonies and the first magazine in America.
