A very good, clean, tight and bright copy in original publisher's light blue boards - stamped in black to the spine and to the front board. No inscriptions. 7 plates by Mabel Lucie Attwell all in gravure and a number of other illustrations in the text. Spotting to the fore-edges and to the endpapers. No inscriptions; a former bookseller's (Jenners) label to the rear paste-down. A very good, clean, tight copy.

Not one of the cheaper editions. This copy has 12 charming coloured plates to include the frontispiece - all as called for and a number of line drawings in the text. No inscriptons. The boards a little mottle marked. Some spotting chiefly to the fore-edges and endpapers to include the title page but some spotting scattered throughout. Some finger soiling to a relatively few pages. A chip to the extreme lower corner margin (no loss of image) of the plate opposite page 80. A very good minus, tight copy.

No niks or loss. A near fine copy in a very good plus wrapper.

Illustrated throughout with numerous b/w photographic images. Maps to the end papers. Bump to the tail of the spine of Volume One with slight splitting to the casing to te extrenal hinge. Slight bump to two corners. Bumps to the head and tail of the spine of Volume Two. Both volumes are fresh and clean. Dust wrappers are not price clipped. There is a tear of 2 cm from the tail of the front panel of the wrapper of Volume, now expertly repaired. The wrappers otherwise have minimal shelf wear. No loss. A very good copy.

Kegan Paul, Trench Trubner & Co. Full-Leather. Fine. Small 4to. ND (ca. 1930), frontispiece + XXIV + 272 p. 30 plates, by H. Alken, Phiz and W. Heath. Includes preface of the 1838 first ed. and the 1843 second ed. This is a sumptuous edition which would appear to be an extravagant facsiimile of the second ed. - circa 1930? Many of the plates with titled tissue guards are brilliantly hand coloured as is the frontispiece and front vignette. It is bound in full red leather by Riviere & Son and is handsomely decorated in gilt with hunting motifs. All edges are gilt. In superb condition - a treat of a book.

The boards are a little marked with a little wear to the lower corners. A little wear to the tail of the spine and a slight lean. The rear joint has a very small superficial crack. The dust jacket is a little soiled and has a few short tears (repaired with archival tape - a reversible process) and a little chipping to the top of the spine with very small loss. Bound in original blue cloth with gilt embossed lettering to the front board and spine and a black embossed picture to the front board. Illustrated with numerous full page plates, including a frontispiece plate and five fold out maps. Light sunning to the spine and rubbing to the head and tail of the spine with slight tunring in of the corners of the boards. Slight bump to the head of the rear board. Slight fading to the front edge of the front board. A charming prize presentation bookplate tot he front paste down dated 1895. Slight split to the front inner hinge, though the front board remains firmly attached. Light foxing to the fore edges. No inscriptions and the book is fresh, clean and tight. A very good copy.

One bump to head board and one bump to tail of spine- both concealed by the wrapper. The wrapper has not been price clipped. A very good signed copy of this former England cricketer's autobiography.

There is some rubbing to the spine with slight loss at the head and tail of the spine. A few light stain marks to the rear card cover. Internally clean and tight. A very good copy.

A few very slight marks to the front paste-down and a couple of more notable soil marks to the front endpaper. An oval shaped light soil/stain mark - small just 5mm in diameter to the lower fore-edge not affecting the margins of the pages. The jacket has not been price-clipped; it has some light rubbing to the corners, slight rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and an expertly repaired very short tear to the head of the rear panel. A very good minus, tight essentially clean copy in very good jacket.
