Tavistock Square, London: by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at The Hogarth Press, 1932. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. John Blanchard. Cream pictorial sewn wrappers printed in black and green, designed by John Blanchard. First edition, issued as Hogarth Letters No. 8. Some soiling along edges, an effusive gift inscription in ink on the front free endpaper, but a good copy. Â This epistolary essay was first published in "The Yale Review," and thereafter as a separate title in the Hogarth Press "Letters" series. Woolf was indeed addressing a particular young poet: John Lehmann, who was working as an apprentice at the Press founded by Leonard and Virginia Woolf in 1917. The wolf, i.e., Woolf logo on the title page represents the earliest interpretation of the illustration. KIRKPATICK A17a. WOOLMER 314.

London: Faber and Faber Ltd, 1950. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Large octavo. Gilt cloth. Second impression, printed photo-offset from the 1940 edition because the type had to be melted during the second world war, which prevented them from making corrections or adding footnotes - as noted in a long "Note to the Second Edition" by the authors. Endsheets a trifle foxed but a very good copy, nonetheless, in a lightly worn dust jacket.
