Originally published in 1946, this history of the circus by French journalist Henry Thetard was republished in 1978. At over 600 pages it is a captivating and extremely comprehensive history, beginning in Ancient Egypt and China and ending with a chapter titled "Le Cirque Depuis La Guerre" ("The Circus Since the War), written by L.-R. Dauven specifically for the republishing of the text after Thetard's death. The book is also lavishly illustrated, with historical photographs and illustrations on almost every page, including many full-color plates. A wonderful read for for anyone interested in French cultural history. Also boasts an attractive red cover with gilt lettering on the spine, and lovely decorative end papers.

A much-beloved children's book with text in both English and Chinese. Lovely color illustrations. The book tells the story of Lao Lao, a woman renowned for her skill in traditional Chinese paper cutting. Lao Lao is locked away by the emperor in hopes that she will make jewels for him out of paper, but she is rescued by the Ice Dragon and becomes free to share her beautiful paper cuts with everyone. The last pages of the book also feature templates for children to make their own paper cuts.

George Shannon, known for his use of word-play in his children's books, tells a silly tale of a tongue-tied duck. The illustrations by Meg McLean are equally playful. A lovely little book.

Originally published as a Little Golden Book in 1960, this 1988 printing includes the original beautiful color illustrations by Lilian Obligado. A find for a collector of children's books.

It is one of the Dilithium Press Children's Classics series, which includes 55 beautifully illustrated editions of classic children's books published between 1986 and 1995. This book features a leather spine with gilt lettering, attractive deckle edges, and top edge maroon decorative stain. It also features eight beautiful color plates by the celebrated children's book illustrator Jessie Willcox Smith, in addition to black-and-white drawings by Frank T. Merrill.
