There are also sections of care of eyelashes and eyebrows. Creasing to pages, bit of foxing, soiling and staining to covers.

Octavo, original green cloth boards with titles to spine and front cover white, with the original pictorial dust jacket. The author's second novel. This title in similar condition sold in 2015 at Swann Auctions for 5,500. An excellent copy in the dust jacket with just a touch of rubbing to extremities, closed tear to rear panel bottom edge, shallow chips to corners and ends of spine. A very attractive copy.

Moss Harvard Medical School Boston, Mass," i.e. William Lorenzo Moss, a tropical disease specialist, pathologist at Johns Hopkins, Acting Dean of the School of Public Health and Harvard, and Dean of the The University of Georgia Medical School, known for his invention of the classification system of the four blood groups. Journal binding measuring 7.5 x 5", containing lined paper, of which 82 pages are filled in ink manuscript with recipes, several dated in April, 1910, and/or headed "Domestic Science" or "Domestic Science Cookery". Inscribed on rear cover verso "Genevieve Leyba Santa Fe N.M. Indian School." A manuscript cookbook kept by a young woman at the Santa Fe Indian School in New Mexico. According to the 1910 census, the compiler, Genevieve (or Genoveva) Leyba, was born in 1891, and grew up in El Rito, Mora County, New Mexico, together with her siblings and parents Juan and Efimenia, whose native tongue was Spanish. Her occupation, as well as that of her sister, Agafata Leyba, is listed as "Government School." Domestic science, together with manual and industrial training, was an important part of education at Native American Boarding Schools. Salem, Oregon, 1899 to 1920s. Ledger binding of gilt accented red morocco, 9 x 6", containing 284 numbered pages, of which 88 contain manuscript recipes, with three additional recipes laid in. Manuscript index present at end, and various pasted in culinary clippings and ephemera laid in. Inscribed "Mrs. E.C. Patton Salem, Or January 12, 1899 Receipts Etc Etc". A manuscript cookbook and scrapbook compiled by Leah Orsella Guiss Patton (1869-1927). Born in New Washington, Ohio, Patton moved with her family to Woodburn, Oregon in the early 1870s. In 1893, she married Edwin Cooke Patton, a Salem opera manager and stage musician, and a member of a pioneering local family. This manuscript cookbook begins in the 1890s and continues throughout the first decades of the 20th century, possibly concluding with Patton's 1927 death. Minutes book documenting the meetings of the Portland, Maine based directors and treasurer's meetings of the Wide West Mining Co. Includes discussions of stocks, elections, and attempts to sell the company, as well as reports related to the company's western holdings, which included mines and claims in Colorado and Nevada. The text includes contributions from two women who were shareholders. Wear to corners and edges, binding lacking spine covering.
