Rare edition printed in Vienna of this work by Madame Le Prince de Beaumont (1711-1780) serving as a sequel to her famous educational treatise entitled "Magasin des enfants". Director of a private school for adolescent girls, she wrote numerous educational works as well as tales including "Beauty and the Beast" which made her famous. First published periodically in London in 1760, the present work written for the use of young girls, in which characters with eloquent names such as Lady Sincère, Lady Tempête or Miss Champêtre are featured, had great success when it was released (see Larousse). Very good untrimmed copy in its original cardboard.

First Edition of this dissertation on breastfeeding, in which the author comments on the mechanism of milk secretion in women, the composition of the mammary glands and the diseases likely to disturb the quality of milk. References to physicians and anatomists Barthez, Haller, Boerhaave, White, Zimmerman, etc. The author was originally from Clermont-Ferrand.
