[ONE COPY OF PART I - NO KNOWN COPY OF PART II] Euphrosyne. The chaplet of chearfulness, and Company Keeper's Assistant. A select collection of songs For the Entertainment of the Bacchanal, Lover, Buck, Sportsman, Free Mason, Loyalist, Soldier, and Sailor: And for all those Who would render themselves agreeable, divert Company, kill Care, and be joyous: Where the high seasoned Wit and Humour will be a sufficient Apology for a bad voice; and whereby such as have a tolerable one will be able to shine, without repressing the Laugh of the merrily disposed, or offending the Ear of the most chaste Virgin.

Dublin: printed by and for James Hoey, junior, 1763.. Hardcover. Very Good. Duodecimo. In two parts. I: [ii], ii, 8, 132, ivpp.; II: 271pp., plus Index. Contemporary calf. ESTC T218259. The Bodleian has the only recorded copy of Part One. There is no recorded copy of Part Two; this is the only copy of Part Two, albeit deficient. Euphrosyne is quite an enigma. There are two editions of the work, both printed by James Joey, Jr., in Dublin. Oxford libraries seem to be the only holders of these two books. Even though they hold a complete copy of the first edition (in two parts), they have only the first part of the second edition, which ends on p. 132. However, the second edition also has a second part and follows the same pattern as in the first edition. In both editions, the pagination is continuous. They also pretty much follow each other verbatim (there are some minor differences). Following the text of both editions in ECCO, I had this copy completed in good facsimile, which lacks…

ESTC W21343; Evans 15032; Adams, T.R. Amer. pamphlets, 224w. There were four American printings of this work in 1776 shortly after its first printing by Cadell in February 1776 in London. The printers were: Fleet in Boston, Dunlap in Philadelphia, Loudon in New York, and Bruce in Charlestown. The priority of these American editions was not determined. I would like to set the dates of publication of the American editions of Observations on the Nature of Civil Liberty, . based on the advertisements found in the local newspapers of the day. The "Boston Gazette" of June 17, 1776, advertises the Boston publication as 'this day published.' The "Pennsylvania Packet" of July 1, 1776, advertises the Pennsylvania publication as 'on Friday next will be published and sold by John Dunlap, in Market-Street, Philadelphia, Observations . by…
