Description:
s.l., 1793. 8vo. 8 pages. Modern boards in ancient style. First Edition. A pamphlet of remarkable rarity, apparently composed by a Gendarme and published at the death of Marie-Antoinette, whose last moments he evokes with emotion. It seems to be missing from all French and American heritage collections, and we have only been able to locate two copies (in Switzerland and Belgium). Most bibliographies mention only the copy in the Alfred Bégis Library (1899), Part 2, no. 316. Ladoué, Les Panégyristes de Louis XVI et de Marie-Antoinette (1912), 33, cites the work after Tourneux, 327, which in turn cites the Bégis copy.

Description:
A Londres, 1793. 8vo. 12 pages. Antique-style modern boards. First Edition of this pamphlet on the death of Louis XVI, published during her exile in London by the Marquise de Cassini (1737-1805), who ran a famous salon in Paris before the Revolution. During her exile, she tried to rally the counter-revolution and took part in several royalist plots. This extremely rare work seems to be absent from all French heritage collections, and we have only been able to locate two copies (in the USA and Switzerland). Missing from Ladoué, Les Panégyristes de Louis XVI et de Marie-Antoinette (1912).
