Overall the books are in good condition and ripe for a refinish. 2 of the books have a detached spine but all of the bindings are fair to very good. I've done my best to show in pictures the extent of all damage and wear. Contains 1869 copies except for the 1st volume and 2nd volume which are 1866 and unknown, respectively. New York: Worthington Co., 1890. First Edition . Hardcover. Good. Condition is good with some frays to spine ends and small stain to front cover. Binding and hinges intact and pages clean. Seems to be a fiction book from reading a little of it. Kind of an interesting title if you ask me.  The title page describes it as vacation papers humorous and other and the stories were collected by the author's brother, so it seems like this author had written some things privately over his life and they were finally put to publication by a family member who thought they were fun. Has a beautiful frontispiece which I am not sure originally belonged to the book but probably did. Pages are good with little to no browning. There is one stain that affects pages 70 - 114 on the top quarter of each page. Damage fades and is gone by page 70. Ex library Maclure library. A rare account of English churches by one of the most prolific religious writers of the time. First 40 pages have damage as shown. Rest are fairly clean with light browning and rare foxing spots.
