Each volume covers four months (from May 1928 to December 1929), but  the magazine was a monthly periodical and each "volume" was made up of four consecutive issues. Many Illustrated articles on very fine antiques. B&W photographs on most pages. Each volume in publisher's black decorated cloth with gilt lettering and ornaments. 9.75 x 12 inches (24.8 x 30.5 cm). Spine binding frayed to head and foot, ex-lib with associated stamps and with associated stamps and cards etc, a few pages loose or torn, otherwise in very good condition.

Very fine condition. 4.3 x 6.5 inches (11 x 16.5 cm.).Born into slavery as conjoined twins in North Carolina in 1851, Millie and Christine were taken from their parents and sold three or four times, stolen and retrieved; placed on display at fairs and "freak-shows," from New Orleans to as far as Canada. At one time, after being sold to J.P. Smith, they were kidnapped and taken to England. They were retrieved by Smith with the aid of their mother and brought back to North Carolina in 1857. Smith taught them to read and write as well as sing and dance and the twins composed original music for their act. They were widely celebrated as "The Two-Headed Nightingale" and appeared with Barnum's circus. The creators of the musical are shown in front of the Chanel salon, with the "Chanel" awnings visible in the background. Inscribed #2 and July, 1966 on the verso. 14.75 x 10.25 inches (37.5 x 26 cm).Coco was a 1969 Broadway musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by André Previn, inspired by the life of Coco Chanel. It starred Katharine Hepburn in her only stage musical. Although the role had initially been intended for producer Frederick Brisson's wife, Rosalind Russell, Hepburn was convinced to take the role after receiving vocal coaching and meeting Coco Chanel. After 40 previews, the Broadway production opened on December 18, 1969 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre, where it ran for 329 performances.

W. Griffith / Prominent screen producer who will offer the first repertory season in the history of motion pictures, opening at the George M. Cohan Theatre May 12, with Broken Blossoms." This image was later reproduced in the Chicago Tribune, under the headline "Movie Comedian Says He'll File Cross Bill: Charlie Chaplin and his Jap valet about to board Twentieth Century in Chicago on his way to see New York lawyer." 7.5 x 9.75 inches. Edges slightly chipped, stamps and notations on verso, else fine.On January 11, 1927, Charlie Chaplin's $16 million estate was frozen by court receivers after his second wife, Lita Grey Chaplin, sued for divorce. Lita was a 16-year-old hopeful actress when the 35-year-old Chaplin married her in 1924. The bitter and prolonged divorce ended a three-year marriage with a $1 million settlement.

Anonymous original period citrate photograph, ca. 1900, of the painter, cigarette dangling from his mouth, in front of his house at Giverny, with a hanging chicken suspended from an open window shudder. 3.45 x 3.45 inches (8.7 x 8.7 cm). Penciled numbers to verso with stamp remnant, some foxing to verso, in fine condition. A few steps away from his home at Giverny, Claude Monet had a chicken yard full of hens, and Fondation Claude Monet still keeps a few chickens in this corner of the garden.  The artist spent 43 years at his Giverny residence and some of his most famous paintings were of his garden in Giverny, famous for its rectangular Clos Normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around colored shrubs, and the water garden, formed by a tributary to the Epte, with the Japanese bridge, the pond with the water lilies, the wisterias and the azaleas.

An apparently unrelated photograph of the cathedral at Chatres is affixed to the mount verso. Small stains along left edge and corners somewhat chipped, but otherwise good and most remarkable and unusual in this large size. 8.5 x 11 inches.Carl Flesch called him "the most outstanding and individual violinist I have ever heard in my life," and he was the dedicatee of many major works from Debussy, Saint-Saens, Franck, Chausson and others.
