A very fine set on the Japanese arts, in English. Distributed by Tuttle. All the dustjackets are very good, with minor fading or nicks on some. Inside the books, clean and tight with no foxing or stains. Color plates are tipped on. Two volumes on painting, one on sculpture, one on architecture and gardens, one on textiles and lacquer, and the last volume on Ceramics and Metalwork. No defects or significant wear to the bindings, all hinges tight. Extra postage to be negotiated because of the size and weight of this 6 volume set..

Calcutta: The Benhal Secretariat Book Depot, 1905. Book. Illus. by Graphs. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The hardcover printed front is the title page of this statistical compendium, a credit to the British Raj in India that they so thoroughly documented their Districts. For example, in the population graph, they break down rural & urban, number of occupied houses, number of persons per square mile, and population growth from 1872 to 1881 to 1891. Pages 29 of statistics with a blank page between each printed sheet. Light green hard boards with a blue cloth spine, a bit of fading and wear along the edges. Very clean and tight inside. This series was published at least through 1917. Now RARE, of course.

Her uncommon second book, much before her 1966 Pulitzer Prize for her short stories. Original grey cloth with titles in black on the front and the slightly faded spine. Inside, as new. No prior owner marks, no stains or browning. A very tight, clean copy. .

Twenty quarterly reports of the Society, which was dedicated to scientifically explore the places and events of the Bible - April and July 1873, all four in 1874 and 1875, Jan July and Oct 1876, Jan 1877, July & Oct 1888, Jan April & July 1979, and July 1880. Bound in 2 volumes of 3/4 calf, with recent professional hinge repair. Marbled boards and endpapers matching the marbled page edges. Fresh, attractive 2 volume set. Beirut: Maison Bonfils, 1880. Book. Illus. by 27 Photogravures (of 30). Very Good. Unbound. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. RARE early photogravures (circa 1880) by the famous French photographer Bonfils (1831-1885), of Palestine. The individual photos , 4 1/2 " by 6 1/2 ", are mounted on heavy gray card stock , a few of which are chipped. The photos are bright and clear, no foxing or stains. Enclosed in a cloth box with Palestinian woman and palm tree on the front, and bright title , Palestine, in gilt. The sides of the box were flimsy and had deteriroated, so the box was rebuilt with heavy cloth sides to protect the plates. Only two other sets on the internet at this writing, all 30 for $1962. and set of only 20 photos for $750. Each photo is captioned on the grey card..
