More than 100 paintings plus commentary by notable paintmaker, Robert Gamblin. These works date from the years 1976 to 2016. Includes a one-page biography, artist timeline, and notes (including a list of the 26 oil colors with a permanent space on his mixing palette). Robert Gamblin founded the Portland-based Gamblin Artists Colors in 1980. He grew up in Portland, earned his BS in Fine Art at the University of Oregon in 1970, and continued his studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, 1971-72. In 2017, he received a lifetime achievement award from the National Art Materials Trade Association.

The spiritual memoir of the Christian evangelist, Luis Palau (1934-2021), considered by many as a successor to Billy Graham. In 1961 he graduated from Multnomah University, located in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. He worked for Billy Graham for several years and modeled his own evangelical mission on Graham's.

Very Good. 19 paper cuts produced by folk artists of Guangdong and Fujian Provinces, China, accompanied by short introductions in Chinese, English, French and German. Presented in a portfolio box with traditional bone-fastenings. Rare. One later edition located on OCLC (State Library of South Australia). The pieces, mounted on thin card-stock, are done on paper with incised patterns, both delicate and elegant in appearance. Paper-cuts of this sort originated from paper moulds used to imprint pictures on lacquer ware. Some of the works in this collection originate from the city of Chaozhou.

Detailed account of the third Paris World's Fair (the 1878 Exposition Universelle) and descriptions of travels in Belgium, Germany, on the Rhine, across the Swiss Alps, in Italy and the Tyro. Concludes with fifty pages of illustrated advertisements for manufacturers who presented at the exposition. The author, Henry Morford (1823-1881), was a New York City novelist, playwright, and journalist. In 1876, he opened a bookstore that specialized in travel literature.

Name of RH Thornton, Date of 1877 and note "Presented to the Library Association, Portland, OR: Oct 1887" Copy belonged to Richard Hopwood Thorton (his name and a date of 1877 is on the ffep) who was the founder and first Dean of the University of Oregon Law School. The son of a prominent English Wesleyan clergyman and Latin tutor, Richard Hopwood Thornton was born in 1845 in Didebury, Lancashire, England. After attending New Kingswood School near Bath, he passed the entrance examination for Oxford University in 1862, but instead entered a London business house. After a visit to Paris in 1870 he went to Canada in 1871 where he taught school in various places. Approximately 120 pages. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. Canvassing salesman's dummy book. The book being sold to subscriber's was essentially a voters' manual for the elections of 1896 that profiled the various candidates and political issues of the day: the Monroe Doctrine, free silver, the gold standard, the Cuban problem, protectionism, free trade, labor, etc.
