Description:
Bound in contemporary paper boards, pages untrimmed, light foxing and soiling throughout; [8], 189 pages. Fischer (1771-1829) was a minor German critic and travel writer. In this work he presents 111 very short fables whose morals he applies directly to the contemporary European political situation. The vast majority of the fables have animal actors. A nice unsophisticated copy of an uncommon title of marginal importance. OCLC locates fewer than 15, none in the US.

Description:
Stapled magazine, 6.75 x 9.75 inches, sixteen pages including wraps, light vertcal fold, else good condition. This is the first issue of հոկտեմբերԻԿ Hoktemberik, the Armenian magazine for Little Octobrists, the Soviet organization for primary-age children. It was published continuously through 1950, when it was apparently folded into the magazine for the older Pioneers. These illustrations are some of the earliest published work by Hovhannes Shavarsh (1908-1880), honored as a People's Artist of the USSR in 1961. Ranging from revolutionary satire to traditional Armenian romance, his work consistently expressed Soviet themes in an Armenian context.

Description:
Stab-sewn accordion-fold pamphlet in wrap, 8.75 x 5.75 inches, 20 folded leaves; rodent (?) damage as visible in scans, affecting text on front wrap only.WorldCat locates four: Harvard, Huntington, Lancaster Theological Seminary, Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center.Apparently arranged in sections outlining uses for each of Jayne's various medicines, just as in his American almanacs. Unclear whether this was printed in the US for the immigrant market (as suggested by the Connecticut general store ad on the back wrap ) or for the Asian market, where Jayne's medicines were available and used by missionaries. The American almanacs often contain testimonies from missionaries in Asia, and an edition in Burmese was printed in Rangoon at the American Mission Press in 1864.
