The only significant imperfections are some light staining and wear to the edges of the cloth covers. The gilt stamped cover is still in great condition with minimal fading as is the gilt lettering and illustrations on the spine. Pages, except for staining, are clean white with not foxing and a very slight brown on the edges. Overall a fair plus copy that looks good on the shelf. portland: Binfords & Mort, 1948. First Edition . Cloth. Good. An interesting book that reports to be set in the early 1800s halfway up the West Coast of Vancouver island. A magical romance. Apparently this was based on a semi realistic story and moved into a fiction romance tale. Beautifully kept in a mile large jacket with some slight chipping to the dust jacket but overall near fine condition. Binding good, hinges tight, pages clean. 1890. Hardcover. Good. Clarence H. Wickham and his wife Edith Farwell McGrath Wickham owned these books. Clarence was a prominent industrialist who made innovations in envelope production: "After the war, he took a position at the Plimpton Manufacturing Company in Hartford, where he developed an admirable reputation and fortune due to his many inventions that allowed the production of a machine which made stamped envelopes so cheaply that they were able to keep federal government contracts from 1874 to 1907. For thirty-three years all the stamped envelopes used by the United States government were made by the Wickham machines."
