Description:
A Paris, chez Dauthereau, libraire, 1826. 2 tomes in 1 volume 32mo. XXIV. 190 pages. + 2f leaves. 184 pages. Contemporary half green calfskin, smooth back decorated with gilded fillets. One of the main works of the English actress and novelist Elizabeth Inchbald (1753-1821). "(Her) successful prose romances, A Simple Story (1791) and Nature and Art (1796), are early examples of the novel of passion" (Encyclopaedia Britannica). Very good copy. Missing from the N.U.C. which does not list editions prior to 1833, and no French translation.
