Toronto: Rice-Knight, Limited. Good with no dust jacket. 1912. Salesmans Sample Book. Black pebbled two post binder approx. 8.5 x 12.5 inches with gilt on front. Wear to edges and small tear to leather at top of spine. Content within book has light soiling and fraying to linen backed photos. Binder contains eight linen backed photos of various lighting samples from the Rice-Knight Lighting Company of Toronto, Canada with offices in Montreal, Winnipeg and Calgary. Two photos have sticker on verso from the Photo-Engravers Limited--Designers and Engravers of Toronto. The eight photos each have a catalog number accompanying the very well produced photo of circa 1910 gas lighting, complete with great shadowing effects. Several of the images have manuscript pricing on photo. Also includes a laid in Purchasers' Report dated 1912. While not extensive, this set is a classy example of salesman's sample book for lighting early in the 20th century. Photos upon request. .

Calendar Art. Salesman sample of a 1930 calendar with artwork by Philip R. Goodwin titled "Adventures on the Nipigon". Sheet measures 14" x 21 ½"; artwork is printed on the sheet and measures 8" x 11". January is the only month tipped onto the sheet and there is space for a company's advertisement. 1 ½" x 3 ¼" sheet tipped on verso with information for the company or salesman to fill out. Calendar has moderate soiling, minor creasing to corners and four ¼" tears along the top and bottom edges. Overall good. Philip R. Goodwin (September 16, 1881 - December 14, 1935) was an American commercial artist and illustrator known for his outdoor hunting and fishing scenes. Very Good. 1885. Map. Two extracted color map sheets of pages 119-124 from "The Official State Atlas of Nebraska", published in 1885 by Everts & Kirk. The pages have very light soil and light edge toning. Image is slightly cropped due to scanner size. One sheet is folded to make four pages, with a centerfold full-sheet map of Cherry County, 17 1/2" x 28" with Saline County and a full-page town plat of its largest town Crete on the verso. The other sheet is two pages, with towns of Valentine, Fort Niobara, O'Fallon's, and Mcpherson on one one side and part of Pawnee county on the verso. Fort Niobara army post buildings are labeled with a key, and railroads are shown on the maps. The detailed atlas was the only Nebraska atlas published in the nineteenth century, and the maps are not common. Phillips 461. ; 17 1/2" x 14" .

Good. 1880. Eight page territorial newspaper. Newspaper is folded in half and top edge is uncut. Newspaper has a 7" tear along the fold and a 2" near the fold. Overall good. An early issue of the Salt Lake Weekly Herald; most articles in this newspaper are dedicated to national news with a good supply of local intelligence as well. Local news includes Z.C.M.I. superintendent Rowe treats factory hands to a grand ball, a duel between two officers at Fort Douglas, difficult surgeries performed, births and deaths. Front wrap is detached but present, wraps have minor chipping to corners; text block is clean. Title on front wrap reads “Salt Lake City - The City of Saints. ” Nice b&w illustrations on each page supporting the description of the City. .

The photo is captioned in the frame with "Salt Lake City from Prospect Hill. S + J Photo." Circa 1890s, with the Mormon Temple finished. Includes 24 b&w photo prints of Salt Lake City attractions. All have been tipped in on recto. One print depicting the City is a panoramic photograph measuring 27” x 7” when unfolded. .

Title and contemporary notes in manuscript. Mount has light soiling, photo has light fading. Cabinet card depicting the Saltair resort found on the Great Salt Lake. It was completed in 1893 and was the most successful resort along the lakeshore. It was associated with the LDS Church and the Salt Lake & Los Angeles Railway. Sacramento: State of California, the Resources Agency. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1962. Stapled wraps. Open-spine stapled wraps. Blue front and back wraps with landscape photograph on front. Toning and fading to edges. No loose pages. Text block is very clean. Contains black and white photographs and sketches of archaeological artifacts. The Rio-Oso Site was first discovered in the early summer of 1957 by the Army Corps of Engineers during levee repair operations. Its location was subsequently reported to the State Indian Museum, and the site was test excavated in the late summer and fall of that year. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall .

Good. Hardcover. A sammelband comprising of selected sections of the magazine "The Land of Sunshine," likely dated between 1898 and 1901. Bound in contemporary half leather with leather labels on spine reading "New Mexico" and "Benavides and Perrea." We believe there to be 10 issues included in this compilation with many b&w plates and totaling approximately 88 pages. The issues were compiled haphazardly, by someone who was more concerned about content than appearance. Some leaves are cut in half and pasted onto the backs of a plate or leaves (scrapbook style) , plates are pasted together, signatures vary in size; issues are not always in chronological order and numbering is all over the place (likely the compiler of this volume only included subjects of interest, hence the wide range in pagination). Two sheets of publisher's prospectuses laid in. Personally inscribed by the illustrator Jose Cisneros on the half title page. A building restoration led to the book research into the San Elizario, Texas, the original county seat of El Paso County in a region claimed by Don Juan de Onate in 1598 and settled by the Spanish in the late 1700s. ; B&W Illustrations; 10 1/4" x 10 1/4"; 86 pp; Signed by Illustrator .

Photographic print with mount measures 10 ½" x 8"; title and photographer's imprint in the negative. "Graham Photo" likely refers to W.M. Graham of Graham & Merrill, and the Graham Photo Company out of Los Angeles (Mautz p.129). Mount has rough edges and moderate soiling on verso; print has light soiling and not been examined out of frame. Now a historic landmark, the San Gabriel Mission was first established in 1771. .

Seemingly a program for the San Luis Valley Ski-Hi Stampede, this booklet is actually a promotional for the Monte Vista area. It includes a centerfold map with roadways, national forest boundaries and campgrounds, many b&w photographs, and information about outdoor activities, farming, commerce and education. The San Luis Valley Ski-Hi Stampede is Colorado's oldest pro-rodeo and will be celebrating its 100th stampede in 2022.
