Y Bibl Cyssegr-lan sef yr hen Destament a'r Newydd / The Holy Bible in which there is the Old Testament and the NewEyre & Spottiswoode, London, 1855. Text in double columns. 1156pp., 4to, in the original binding black calf, elaborately blind tooled, a.e.g. Llundain (London): Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1867. Reprint of the first quarto Welsh Bible issued by the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1841. This is the bible commonly used as a pulpit Bible in Wales. Condition: The binding is in good condition (please see photos) with some peeling to the calfskin along the hinges, but square and sound. At the front is a neatly written gift inscription dated 1857 in script. on a blank page before the New Testament is a recipe for a tincture. Otherwise the pages are age toned commensurate with the age of the book, but unmarked.
