Lincoln: Jacob North Company, 1894. Very good.. 138pp. plus blanks for manuscript notes. Ads on pastedowns. Contemporary black cloth-covered boards. Light wear to covers, minor toning and soiling to contents, a few small edge tears. A scarce community cook book issued by the newly-incorporated YWCA of Lincoln, Nebraska. It includes a full range of fare, from coffee and puddings to fish and oysters, soups, jellies, pickles, and more. The contributor is indicated with each recipe, and the work includes a directory for local businesses. Additional sections for Household Hints, Dishes for the Sick, and Quantities Required for Suppers are also included. OCLC locates four copies, at Cornell, Kansas State, the University of Oregon, and SMU.

Watervliet, NY: Century Printing Co, 1917. Very good.. Broadside, 8.5 x 6 inches. Evenly toned, a couple of shallow edge chips. A rare surviving flyer advertising a series of speeches at "The Final Mass Meeting" of the New York State Woman Suffrage Party before voting takes place for "Woman Suffrage Amendment No. 1" in 1917. The speakers include Mrs. Flora McDonald Dennison, billed as "The Famous Canadian Woman Suffrage Leader," Frank Durham ("Formerly of Colorado"), and "The Liberty Loan Speaker Rev. Dr. J. Ellenwood." The meeting was presided over by E.J. Foley, mayor of the New York town of Watervliet, located near Troy and Albany. Flora Dennison was the leader of the Canadian Woman Suffrage Association; she spent two years on a lecture tour for the New York State Woman Suffrage Association, as evidenced here. A holographic diary and short story written by in 1914 by Rosy Thomas, a young California woman in Rio Bravo, a former settlement in Kern County along the Santa Fe Railroad near Bakersfield. The first portion of eighteen pages encompasses Thomas's diary, which begins on January 30 and runs through February 14, 1914. Thomas records her daily activities , including playing with friends, doing odd chores around her house (where she lives with her sister and aunt), and more.
