Harley Street, London, March 30th, 1933., 1933.. Very good. - The English actor and dramatist Arthur Wing Pinero's inscription, signed and dated by him on 7 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide "115A Harley Street" stationery. Inscribed and signed "yours very truly / Arthur Pinero" and dated "30th March, 1933" at the top with the additional annotation "with great pleasure" penned in his hand at bottom left. Folded for mailing, the left half of the page is darkened. Once mounted, there are remnants of tape on the verso of the attached blank leaf. Very good.

The English actor Sir Arthur Wing Pinero (1955-1934) studied law before joining R.H. Wyndham's company at the Theatre Royal in Edinburgh in 1874. He subsequently joined Henry Irving's Lyceum Theatre company and also played under the Bancroft's at the Haymarket Theatre. He began writing plays in the late 1870's and his work found favor with the public. Pinero went on to write 59 plays and, at the insistence of his colleague George Bernard Shaw, he was knighted in 1909. Pinero wrote strong parts for women and several were successfully made into movies, including the now long lost silent "His House in Order" which starred Tallulah Bankhead.
